Description
The University of Lucerne is seeking a motivated Student Research Assistant to support the development of an LLM-based system aimed at improving internal processes and workflows at the University. The position is available immediately for an initial period of 6 months (with the possibility of extension), at a 20% - 40% workload.
Your Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, development, and evaluation of a prototype LLM system for administrative and research support tasks
- Develop Python-based components and data processing pipelines
- Experiment with machine learning and large language model techniques in an HPC environment
Your Profile
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Sciences, or a related discipline at a Swiss university
- Solid programming skills in Python
- Some familiarity with machine learning concepts and common frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn)
- Ideally, experience with LLMs and/or working on HPC clusters (SLURM, GPU workflows, etc.)
- Strong communication skills in English (working language of the project) Applications from candidates with less experience in specific domains are still welcome. The motivation to learn and develop is highly valued.
